Made the gamejam deadline!!!

There was a ton of things going on as life usually throws at us, but managed to get a working prototype of this game out!

I didn't get anywhere near where I would have liked but I learned enough along the way to balance it out. Watching this get a bit of life was worth it for sure!

I decided to go the long route for both the programming and art sides of this... I ran through a decent number of tutorials and took what I felt the best paths were from each, and rewrote all the code along the way vs copy pasting to help understand better what was going on. Experimented with a bunch of things until I fully understood what was going on. Aseprite was used for all the pixel art and a few things were done with Photoshop. Unity for game engine.

State Machine's are a bit confusing to start out with, but DEFINITELY worth it once you understand the core concepts.

This last week was even more hectic as I tried to get a playable demo out... so I decided to create infinite enemy spawners and add a score to each enemy to call it a day. After realizing the bug-copalypse was way too difficult I decided to upgrade the player dash ability to help with that... super happy with the results! ! !

I will say I ended up using some hacked-up methods of coding all over the place that I would definitely not recommend, but all in all I think it was a great month.
